In his article, Dan De Luce reports on the growing conflict over the Afghan War strategy. He states that President Obama refuses to approve a major troop build up in Afghanistan despite the unanimous opinion of his military commanders. Top officers Admiral Mike Mullen and General David Petraeus "endorse a manpower-intensive strategy," calling for an additional ground invasion force, in order to ensure a successful mission. Mr. De Luce makes it clear that by declining the request for a large number of troops, he will in turn "be rejecting the advice of the United States military," and in turn "raising the political stakes."
